Vizag metro attracted the interest of 5 big companies

The Visakhapatnam metro rail project has evinced interest of five big companies in the public-private partnership mode.
Proposals have been submitted by Adani enterprises, Tata’s TRIL Urban Transport, Shapoorji Pallonji & company, Essel Infraprojects and IL&FS Rail in September last year.
AMRC managing director NP Ramakrishna Reddy said all the five firms submitted bids with a volume of documents, ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 pages, explaining their experience in taking up big public-private-partnership (PPP) mode projects like airports, metro rail projects, elevated corridors etc.
The AMRC, under the aegis of the state government, will scrutinize the bids and shortlist the eligible firms for further notification of Request for Proposal (RFP), which will be the final invitation to eligible private players for the Rs 8,800 crore projects.
In another 15 to 20 days, the proposals would be examined to shortlist eligible bidders and with the approval of the state government short-listed companies would be announced after a month.
Under the PPP, the government has proposed to fund civil infrastructure expenditure and the private developer are expected to develop non-civil infrastructure, operate and maintain for 35 years.
