Vizag to have Indian Coast Guard air enclave

Air Enclave of Indian Coast Guards is about to come in the city. Construction works are likely to begin from June this year and by the end of 2018 the works would come to closure as the issues of the land have been sorted out recently.
Six years back the proposal for the air enclave has been mooted by the central government, but it has been backlogged till now.

10 acres land from the Visakhapatnam Port Trust at a close vincity of INS Dega was allotted for the construction. Necessary permissions for the construction have already been taken by the ICG.The air enclave will have an air squadron of four maritime surveillance aircraft like Dornier aircraft or bigger.

Indian Coast Guard District-6 which falls under Andhra Pradesh does not any aircraft, except for and ALH chopper. The coming up air station would be a lot beneficial as there would not arise situations where ICG have to depend on Chennai or Bhubaneswar Coast guard stations in case of emergencies.

Checking intrusions into Indian waters and any suspicious movements near the coast lines can be taken a swing action with the help of the air squadron.
