INS Viraat is likely to be set up at Yarada

INS Viraat is likely to be set up at the Yarada beach. A township is proposed to be built at Yarada for the war-ship at the beach.
At first Bheemli beach was taken into consideration for setting up the ship, but required 200 acres of land is not available in the area and then Yarada beach was taken into consideration.

INS Viraat is serving with the Indian Navy since 1987, and is taking its retirement on 6th of the coming month.
Andhra Pradesh government is planning to turn it into a tourist spot and is preparing for its action.

The ship is having 13 floors, in which government officials are planning to build a five star hotel in half of its space and the remaining would be kept as museum.

Though Yarada coast in Visakhapatnam is a awestruck spot with beautiful scenery, the area has not been developed as others due to the way it has to be reached.
By building up the project there, it would attract tourists in large numbers and in turn it would help in the development of the area at a brisk pace. 1000 crore rupees are being invested into the INS Viraat Township project.
