RINL signs MoU with KIOCL

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) of Visakhapatnam has signed a Memorandum of understanding with Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL).

The pact which is signed is aimed at setting up a 1.2 million tonne per annum 
pellet plant project at Visakhapatnam.  Pellets will be produced by utilising iron ore fines which will be supplied from either mines situated at Bailadila in Chhattisgarh or Bellary in Karnataka. The RINL will use these pellets as part of raw material requirement for its blast furnaces. 

Both the PSUs will form a joint venture for the plant. Both the companies have exchanged MoUs in the presence of Union Steel minister Chaudhary Birender Singh.
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) under the corporate entity Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) is the first shore based Public Sector integrated steel plant in India. RINL-VSP, located 26 km south of Visakhapatnam city, Andhra Pradesh state of India, operates a 6.3 million tonne per annum capacity steel plant specialised for quality long products. RINL-VSP is currently expanding its capacity to 7.3 mtpa.
KIOCL Limited a flagship company under the Ministry of steel, Government of India has a Mini Ratna status and was formed on 2nd December 1978. The country’s prestigious Export Oriented Unit having expertise in Iron Ore Mining Filtration Technology & Production of high quality pellets has its corporate office at Koramangala, Bangalore and Pelletization Complex at Mangalore. The annual capacity of the Pellet Plant is to produce about 3.5 Million tons of Iron Ore Pellet.
